So you’re having surgery and they told you they won’t let you leave without a responsible adult… and now you’re thinking, “Okay… but who am I going to ask?!?!” (and that’s when the anxiety kicks in, because suddenly this procedure has become a logistical nightmare).
Maybe you don’t have family nearby. Maybe your friends are working. Maybe you’re new to the city and don’t really know anyone yet. Or maybe you simply hate asking people for favours. I get it.
You’re not the only one who feels stuck in this situation. Hospitals and clinics in Vancouver require someone to be present before they’ll discharge you, especially if anesthesia or sedation is involved (which is a GOOD thing, let’s be real).
But when you don’t have a built-in support person, the whole thing can feel overwhelming, awkward, or just plain stressful. That’s where I come in – calm, supportive, and judgment-free. Let me know the date of your procedure and location here and I’ll get back to you asap.
Option (A) FULL-SERVICE Medical Appointment / Surgery Escort
Home -> Hospital / Clinic -> Home
• I meet you at your home so you’re not getting yourself out the door feeling rushed, nervous, or alone
• we take an Uber together – easy, door-to-door service, zero hassle (no parking stress such as full lots, high parking fees, getting separated when parking or retrieving car)
• I stay with you until you’re fully checked in and can hold your belongings, paperwork, or anything else you don’t want to manage
• I leave my name and number with the nurse’s station so they know exactly who to contact for discharge
• I’m there when you’re ready to leave (which is required for release)
• I help you safely into the ride home via Uber when you may feel groggy or unsteady
• I help you get settled at home so everything feels comfortable and within reach
• I can stay afterward to warm up food, tidy up, or help with small tasks while you rest
• overnight support may be available if required depending on your procedure
• continued post-hospital support at home is available in the days following surgery if you need help getting back on your feet
Option (B) ONE-WAY Medical Appointment / Surgery Escort
Hospital / Clinic -> Home
And maybe you don’t need all the extras. You just need someone there so the hospital can discharge you and make sure you get home safely. That’s completely fine too. I’ll be your point of contact for the nursing staff, travel to the hospital or clinic to meet you, ride home with you, and walk you right to your door.
Send me a message here and we can figure out what makes the most sense for your situation.
